This file was written (by me ouch-> ouch67@yahoo.com)to further explain how you use these programs. Not to mention some tips. Tip: BACK UP HardwarW.exe BEFORE DOING ANY THING!!!!!!!! First the files and their purposes: Hw Stuff F2.1.txt->hmmm... HW F2.1 L Patch.exe->This patch allows you to load things that SF for some reason didn't think you should be allowed to do. If I missed any let me know. HW F2.1 Product Prices.exe->To tell you the trueth I'm kinda nervous to release this one to the public. Why? it lets you change the base price of EVERY item in Hardwar. More later... HW F2.1 orig prices.exe->Resets all of the prices of EVERY item in Hardwar back to the originals. Use this to undo the damage done with HW F2.1 Product Prices.exe. ipconfig.bat->Use this to find your IP address while online. Updated for winipconfig.exe also. HWSGVC.exe->This program will let you convert saved games to the desired version. I used this in converting President.sav president.sav->My latest unusual Saved game. My last one (which you can get through Captian Zedo's website: www.zedo.freeservers.com) uncovered strange new items. (and lots of them) Getting rid of that Interplay launch screen-> A simple way to get rid of that anoying launch screen. Simply by one keyboard key and one mouse click. Getting rid of the need for the CD's->Another real simple way to get rid of an anoyance. Patches: Please note that these patches are for Hardwar version F2.1 I took off the checksum on all of the patches. So if you run these in the same directory as HardwarW.exe, They WILL patch the game no matter what. Now the downside is that if you don't have Hardwar version F2.1 then you just screwed up the game. At the very least Hardwar might lockup. If you do this reinstall Hardwar or simply replace HardwarW.exe that you should of back upped. Now about the prices of items in hardwar: Well if your going to play with HW Product Prices.exe then you should read this. First the economy of Hardwar is in your hands now. But if you screwed it up beyond recovery then run HW F2.1 orig prices.exe to have everything reset back to the original values. That is if you have figured out how to use HW F2.1 Product Prices.exe. Well start it up And I'll Explain. Ok... first press the info button to have a look at what this thing is all about. then push the bottom bar to close. Now push the button that says open on it. Now find the file HardwarW.exe (where ever you installed Hardwar, also the same location of Hardman.exe) a bunch of numbers should have appeared. The first one Ore should read 200. Let's change that base price to 1000. Wait Base price what's that? The base price is what the economy in Hardwar centers around. It's sort of like what the product is worth. Prices will hover around this value. Ok back to the Ore. First click on the word Ore you will see the current value displayed in the EDIT ZONE as it's called. delete what it says and type 1000. Now the thing that is kinda weird about this program is that it saves constantly, everytime you push a key it saves for you, so there is no need to confirm (by like pushing enter or something) what you have typed in is already there. Now push exit. (pressing enter in this program does the same thing) Now start Hardwar if you are continueing a saved game then you will have to push the buttons that raises or lowers prices for the effect to take place. This is also true for other hangars as soon as they raise or lower a price then things will change somewhere close to your value. Well as you may have discovered from flying around to places that sell Ore that the the price of Ore went up to around 800 pretty big inflation rates huh? :) Also you can't edit the prices while Hardwar is running. President.sav In this saved game I have to admit that I went a little over board. But as you will soon find out, it was well worth it. I sorta went on a hack fest and bought every Hanger that wasn't faction owned. Because if it is a faction Hardwar Crashes saying it can't find your faction, because you don't have one. And I was surprised on some Hangers that were faction owned. Each pilot has a certain ID in hardwar. When that ID is inserted into the owners spot in the memory of the hangar (Yes Hangar Format.txt is updated and added) it changes it's name to something like Ouch's Hangar, and you can control some things special to that hangar. I originaly did this to see if I could get the monorail's working. But it didn't :( I also own Taxi services and trading posts and stuff. All of The services work with one little catch. Well you will see other pilots (traders in pecticular) flying on strait courses going nowhere except into walls and stuff. The economy sorta stops for a bit. But when those morons die (help them a little :) )the next generation pilots know where to go and componsate all of the name changes. As your flying you will notice pilots trying to get into thier hangars. well that won't work to well because they are all mine now and the hangers won't let them in. so they slam into the door or just sit there forever. Kill them so there can be pirates again. You will also get messages from ouch's Hanger because I own Hardwarp. Oh and about navigation... well let's put it this way, After you get done playing this saved game you will never want to see these two words again: ouch's Hangar. Tip: When pilots are generated in Hardwar they get 10,000 to start out with. (Hangars get 100,000)It's up to them to make or lose money with it. So naturally They won't be able to buy anything over 10,000 so try to keep the lowest price below this number. Tip: The Frame XX (Where X equals some letter) stuff is actually moths. For instance Frame MM is the Moon Moth. Frame AL has been decided to be the Extra Titanian moth.(Thanks to Zero Cool who helped in deciding what that was) PL, police, you get it. Getting rid of that Interplay launch screen: Quite simply delete it! It's a file named IP640320.exe or something simular. Double click one it and the interplay movie should play. I would recommend renaming it though just in case. Getting rid of the need for the CD's: just rename or delete Media.txt located in your Hardwar directory. Poof! no more asking for CD's. Of course no more movies either. If you want movies then install uninstall Hardwar (don't forget to keep your saved games) copy all files from CD1 and CD2(not subdirectories) to a directory of your choice. Copy CD1 first then CD2 DO NOT OVERWRITE any files from CD1. Now double click on Hardman.exe in that folder. Install to the same directory. Now in Media.txt you will see the names of Hardwar's movies. to the right of the filenames after a comma "," there will be a number, Make sure they are all 1 and not 2. Double click on Hardwar again and it should run without the need of CD's. Tip: Bouncing around in tunnels is bad. Tip: look in the cereal box before you poor it. Tip: Use a joystick. You are a lot more manuverable this way. Tip: Your still here? Go play Hardwar!
