The DEALER(version U2.03+ only)There's a new starting occupation in the U2.03 patch. It's called "Dealer". The big deal is you start with a hangar that has some weapons in stock. The hangar is Vacant 0030 which is the tower beside Hardwarp FM. It's immediately given your name when you join the game as a Dealer and it's where you start the game. This hangar has lots of clones installed. This is probably the biggest advantage you've got. The weapons in stock vary. You may start out with some of the new Trojans and Sprats. Other times you only get a few Swarms Your Moth has a lot to be desired. Luckily you start out with $100,000 for initial upgrading. You begin in a Moon Moth with Engine #1 and Cell #1. You also have a Medium Pod and regular Drone. Your only fitted weapon is a Laser. I'd suggest fitting a few Sprats or Swarms from your stock and upgrading the Engine and Cell of your Moon Moth immediately if you don't just buy another Moth altogether. You also start out with two enemies named Nelson Column and Clifton Bridge. Both are generated in the Mines crater and are flying toward you in Downtown via Midway/Gamma at the start of the game. They both fly Silver-Ys with lasers. Clifton Bridges also has Swarms. These pre-made eneimies add a lot to the game. Killing them puts you on the Police Wanted List. Not killing them can be worse. I suggest heading for the Mines via Gamma at the start of the game and dealing with these two. They don't target you first until they're in the Dowtown crater. It pays to intercept them near the Gamma/Midaway tunnel.
THE NEW START-UP MOTHS FOR PATCHED VERISONS (U-1.0+)We've all been waiting for the patch and one of the first things you'll notice is a new batch of Start-Up Moths and occupations. No longer are you restricted to starting the game in a Silver-Y. The new beginning occupations on Titan include: Agitator in a Neo-Tiger, Godfather in a Moon Moth (equipped with Engine #3 !!?), and Corrupt Cop in a Police L-2000. They all come with an Engine #3, an Afterburner and a Fusion Cell. They have level 2 of all software, no Auto-Pilot, level 3 Radar, and InfraRed (Nightscope). The table below gives the specific equipment on each of the new start-up Moths. NOTE: You still get $10,000 in start-up cash.
MY PICK OF THE NEW START-UPSI like the Godfather set-up. The Moon Moth really moves with an Engine #3 even though the Largest Pod keeps the speed down. Try this Moth out and get a small pod for it and it really whizzes. This is the only way to get an Engine #3 on a Moon Moth in the offline game. You still can't add one to any other Moon Moth you buy. I also like having a full load of Devastators. These generally aren't affordable early in the game and have several advantages. Mainly, they can take out a Moth quickly without getting you on anyone's Wanted List. Make sure to get in close and take them out with the first hit. The Afterburner comes in handy for quick get-aways right after you've picked up some valuable cargo. My suggestion is to fit a Plasma Kannon as soon as you can. My next favorite is the Corrupt Cop. You get the best dogfighter on Titan right from the start with an Engine #3, Afterburner, and a Fusion Cell. Hard to beat that set-up. Again the Largest Pod slows the Police L-2000 down a good bit, but you can always exchange for a smaller pod. The weaponry is a little more spartan than the Godfather's set-up, but this makes the weapons a little easier to manage. Fit a Plasma Kannon as soon as you can. To Traditional Start Up Moths > > > |
